The 7 Virtues, Nova Scotia-based Company, is a social enterprise that believes in rebuilding countries. Not with bricks, cement, and woods, but with empowerment, jobs, an opportunity to learn skills to improve communities. Their perfume collection is made with essential oils from countries that are rebuilding including Rwanda, Middle East, Afghanistan, and Haiti.
The company started by obtaining essential oils from a dealer in Afghanistan who offers seasonal employment to his community. Since then, the company has grown and is now sourcing oils from Rwanda and Haiti. The 7 Virtues’ goal is to encourage other companies to trade with businesses in Rwanda, the Middle East, Afghanistan, Haiti and other countries experiencing conflict as part of the solution to building peace.
When The 7 Virtues visited Rwanda to meet their supplies, they were amazed by the Country’s progress. Globally, Rwanda is the first country to have a female majority government. Today, the county is among the least corrupt and fast growing in Africa. The 7 Virtues gets its essential oils from Rwandan farmers, so they may purchase school uniforms and build houses for their families.
